2009 AJMBA Kanto Independent Class Contest Results

The 43rd Annual Marching Band Baton Twirling Association Kanto Contest took place on November 2, 8 and 9 at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan. Eleven groups from Tokyo, Saitama, Kanagawa, Nagano, Tochigi and Niigata competed for five seats in the national contest, to be held in January. Each unit received a rating of either gold, silver or bronze, depending on their score. Scores and placements are not released to the public.

Independent S-Class
Matsumoto City Marching Band – Silver
Fairy Winds Marching Band – Bronze
Genesis – Gold
Sonic Lancers Drum and Bugle Corps – Silver Marching Band Courage – Gold

Independent L-Class
Soka University Pride of Soka Drum and Brass Corps – Gold Soka Renaissance Vanguard – Gold Yokohama Robins – Gold Yokohama Scouts Drum and Bugle Corps – Gold Satsuki Dreamers Marching Band – Silver Yokohama Inspires Drum and Bugle Corps – Gold

The Soka Renaissance Vanguard was once again awarded the Governor’s Award for achieving the highest score in their class. Vanguard, as well as Marching Band Courage, Pride of Soka, Yokohama Robins, and the Yokohama Scouts will move on to the All-Japan National Contest, to be held on January 25th, 2009, at the Saitama Super Arena in Saitama, Japan.
