Proving that late is indeed better than never, I am particularly proud to announce this year's picnic.
Alumni, members, friends, family and fans are invited to enjoy themselves and the corps as our guests. We especially encourage current members to bring their folks (parents, grandparents, significant others, etc), so they can acquaint themselves with Spirit, and know their young people are in good hands for the summer.

East Bay charities that operate electronic gaming machines to lift their bingo parlor profits fear a sudden state crackdown this week on some games in Sacramento could spread -- and slash a major source of nonprofit revenue.
The state Department of Justice for years had done little to enforce laws over what it considers illegal bingo machines that in some cases mimic slots — which only Indian tribes can legally operate on tribal land in California. State Attorney General Jerry Brown issued an opinion on electronic bingo in August, but some charity officials called it vague. With no enforcement, few stopped using the machines.
But the lack of enforcement ended Wednesday, when state agents launched a sweep of bingo halls known to operate the suspect machines. By Friday, agents had handed 30-day cease-and-desist orders to seven Sacramento-area bingo parlors and one in Southern California, Department of Justice officials said.

The Evening with the Cadets concert kicks-off the busy summer season and features the 2008 Cadets, as well as a an alumni-based Big Band and Alumni Damon Grant's jazz percussion ensemble.
The concert is $10 and will feature the nine-time World Champion Cadets making their first public appearance of the year and will present music from their "...and the pursuit of happiness..." production and various other fan favorite selections. There is also a Pre-Concert Reception at the school from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. for $25 available for those who want to mix and mingle with other Cadets fans.

The well-known and loved Big Band music of jazz trumpeter Maynard Ferguson will fill the auditorium of Springfield High School on May 25th as a special collaboration of musicians comes together for a remarkable Evening with the Cadets.
The 21-member Cadets and Friends Big Band includes 10 former and current members of the corps, all taking the stage in a tribute performance to jazz legend Maynard Ferguson. Guests will be treated to long-time Maynard favorites such as “Cruisin' For a Bluesin',” “My Funny Valentine,” “Channel One Suite,” and “Hey Jude.”
