Teal Sound November Camp Report Print

Teal Sound's first audition camp of the 2007 season had a record turnout in all sections of the corps. There was a high number of returning members and a lot of new faces that attended. A great experience was had by all throughout the weekend. There are still two more opportunities to audition with the corps this year. An audition day takes place this weekend, Dec. 9, at Santaluces High School in Lantana, Fla., and then again on Dec. 15-17, at the corps' first full rehearsal camp of the year in Jacksonville, Fla.

Ron Ellis, brass caption head and interim program coordinator, said: "This is going to be a very exciting year for Teal Sound and many great things lay on the horizon for this corps!"

Academy November Camp Report Print

This past weekend marked round one of two mini-camp auditions for the 2007 Academy Drum and Bugle Corps. 277 young men and women came to try their best to earn a spot in the corps.

“This is by far the best turn out for auditions that we have ever seen here in Arizona”, says Director, Mark Richardson. “The staff all agrees that we are seeing not only sustained or improved level of training from veteran members, but also an increase in talent from new prospective members”. This marks another level of achievement for the organization and follows the recent headline of the corps being accepted into Division I competition for the 2007 season.

DCI West Tickets On Sale Today Print

During the 2007 Drum Corps International Summer Music Games Tour, California will not only play first-time host to the annual DCI World Championships this August in Pasadena, Calif., it will host a major regional event for the first time as well. Just a few hours up the road from Pasadena, Drum Corps International is pleased to bring the first-ever DCI West Championship to the brand new Stanford Stadium at Stanford University on Saturday, Aug. 4.

Tickets for the DCI West Championship go on sale starting this Thursday, Dec. 7, at 9 a.m. Central time.

Mandarins Form Taiko Group Print

We are pleased to announce the formation of a taiko group. The group will begin rehearsals in December, learning specific taiko techniques and music, performing at various local venues, and training to perform with our 2007 drum corps as part of our"Dragon Dance" show.

The group will rehearse separately from the corps proper until the Memorial Day camp, at which point the group will focus solely on the summer 2007 production. The winter months provide an opportunity for young men and women of drum corps age to learn and perform as a group and for the instructional staff to focus their instructional efforts on areas of specific need to develop the taiko group.

Sybilski, Keenum Join Vanguard Staff Print

The Santa Clara Vanguard is excited to announce the addition of Sly Sybilski and Tommy Keenum to the Vanguard Team. Sly Sybilski takes over responsibilities as the Visual Caption Head. Tommy Keenum of the Band Hall has joined the Design Team as a Consultant for the 2007 season.
