Spirit from JSU is proud to welcome a new face to the world of drum corps, George Armenta. George joins the Spirit family as the new Colorguard Caption Head for the 2007 season. A native of Southern California, George has been involved in the activity for 15 years as an instructor and adjudicator. George is currently on the design staff at Mission Viejo High School and has been a performing arts educator at Arcadia High School for the past 11 years. Under the direction of George, the Arcadia High School Colorguard has advanced from the Scholastic A division to a Scholastic World bronze medal finalist at the 2006 WGI World Championships.

During the month of December, Teal Sound will participate in a community service project called “Toys from Teal.” We ask that all members and those auditioning bring an unwrapped toy. We are looking for toys for both boys and girls ages preschool - twelve years old.

At its regularly scheduled business meeting held last weekend in downtown Indianapolis, Ind., the executive committee of the Drum Corps International board of directors welcomed the Arizona Academy to the competitive ranks of Division I, effective with the start of the 2007 season. In a detailed presentation to the board, the Academy’s executive director, Mark Richardson, outlined the corps’ plan to participate in a tour of modest length similar to the schedule followed as a Division II corps during the 2006 season. The corps also has committed to a regional tour of Division I events.

The spirit of 19th century operetta lives with the 2007 Capital Sound production, “Ooh La La: Le français Spectaculaire.”
(The French Spectacular). Using music from Jacques Offenbach’s Gaite Parisienne and Orpheus in the Underworld, as well as from the movie Victor/Victoria, Capital Sound invites one and all to Bouffe Parisiens, circa 1855, where the “opera bouffe” (comic opera), the catalyst for today’s genre known as the operetta, welcomes one and all to a night of bawdy merriment. |

The Colts Drum and Bugle Corps is pleased to announce the appointment of Tyler Dempsey to head the Colts percussion program.
"Tyler brings to us the experience, excitement and passion needed to be successful with us in the role as percussion caption head," said Greg Orwoll, Executive Director. "He has found tremendous success in the percussion world since he marched with us, and having him come back home to take the program to the next level is exciting for everyone involved."
