In The News: Marching To The Beat Print

In 1990, Harry and Elaine Glinn, managers of the Corps, wanted to retire, so they called on all their former students who had marched together in the late 1970s and early 1980s for help. Fourteen alumni agreed to participate, and Donna Monte volunteered her time to take over as director.

“Harry and Elaine taught us how to run the drum Corps, fundraise, run Bingo, maintain trucks, and how to move the kids from state to state,” she said. “You’re so committed to this activity and your friends, and when you’re 15 or 16 years old, it’s a great experience. It taught me a lot of life lessons.”

In The News: Drum And Bugle Corps Will Play On All Summer Long Print

Stroudsburg High School student Erica Bower and East Stroudsburg University students Ryan Bratt and Ashlie Grimes all woke up today at 7 a.m.

Voluntarily.

And they will continue to do so for most of their summer vacation.

In The News: Belding Show Features 'Awesome' Drum Corps Print

About 700 people witnessed nine-time Drum Corps International (DCI) champions The Cadets win Tuesday night's Silk City Rhythms competition at Rudness Field.

With a score of 74 out of 100 points, the Allentown, Pa., group marched to victory over four other drum corps with its show, "...And the Pursuit of Happiness."

Belding was just one stop of many during DCI's Summer Music Games Tour that will end with the World Championships in Bloomington, Ind., in August.

Cavaliers founder and president Don Warren is celebrating his 60th year in the drum corps activity this summer. In today’s Field Pass presented by Zildjian, Dan Potter talks with Warren and Chicago-area author Colt Foutz about Warren’s biography, “Building the Green Machine,” which will be released nationally this July.
