"You get used to the heat." said Holly Frederickson, a Jersey Surf Corps member. "You get used to coming out here everyday." Besides all the drums and the other equipment they use, water is also on hand. Every 15 minutes or so you see the performers take a break and take quick sip.

 What an exciting season it's been so far for the Vanguard Cadets. The members are working hard, in good spirits and finally maturing to the level of show performance that we're expecting. The audiences have been showing more response and involvement displaying our first standing ovation two weeks ago at the California State Open in Sunnyvale, CA.

The La Crosse Blue Stars Drum and Bugle Corps is in pretty good shape in its bid to make the semifinals next week at the Drum Corps International World Championships in Madison.
