The weekend of March 24-26 marked the second-to-last camp for the Cadets for the 2006 season. Much is underway in regards to preparing for the season but much more is underway for the short 6 ? weeks before the corps moves-in. This camp brought a smaller group than usual, only the hornline and battery were present at Penns Grove High School to welcome spring. This did not stop the corps from making magic happen especially with "Uncle" Jay Bocook on hand to hear the preview of his newest addition to the Through the Looking Glass production…The Closer!

Fred J. Miller, Inc., a leader in pageantry design, has created the guard uniform for Memphis Sound's 2006 production "Shades of Blue." A sample should be available for viewing by the corps membership at the May rehearsal camp. Memphis Sound thanks its guard director, Elter Wilson, along with Michael Cesario and Byron Valentine of Fred Miller for their design efforts.

Freddy Martin, founder and director of Spirit of Atlanta from 1976-1993, and Tom Aungst, longtime percussion caption head for the Cadets, have been elected to the Drum Corps International Hall of Fame for 2006.
The two were elected for DCI Hall of Fame selection by the board of directors and DCI hall of fame members. They join Alfred “Corky” Fabrizio and Don Porter, who were elected to the Hall of Fame by the DCI Hall of Fame Legacy Committee in March as the class of 2006.

You voted and DCI listened....and both the 1984 Garfield Cadets and the 1992 Crossmen made it into the 2006 Classic Countdown!
Sponsored by Drum Corps International, the Classic Countdown is a chance for fans, members and alumni to select up to 12 performances from the more than 30 years of DCI finals performance video clips. The votes have been tallied and footage of the top 12 as selected by the fans will appear in chronological order in select movie theatres across the country at 7 p.m. on Thursday, April 27. This year’s showing is extra special because The Cadets and Crossmen will share the big screen! |
