2Until this year, drum corps fans have had few opportunities to look beneath corps members’ shakos or aussies to see the performers' faces ... and to discover their amazing personalities. As Dan Potter tells us in today's Field Pass presented by Zildjian, the new DCI Fan Network is turning a few performers' names into household words (at least in homes where drum corps is spoken!).

The beautiful echoes of “…and the pursuit of happiness” filled the airwaves of Virginia and along the border of North Carolina Wednesday morning as several local National Public Radio stations aired a short piece on the Cadets and Youth Education in the Arts. The piece was aired at 8:35 a.m. on WCVE FM 88.9 / WCNV FM 89.1 on Virginia's Northern Neck and WMVE FM 90.1 in Chase City (South Central Virginia). The three stations cover all of Central Virginia to the North Carolina border, from the mountains to the ocean.

A huge tour bus on Jenkintown Road drove past the intersection.
"Here they come," they said.
The bus read "Jersey Surf" and brought along 150 members of the Jersey Surf Drum and Bugle Corps to march in the parade its third straight year. Sue Brooks waited for her daughter, Heidi, to stop by with her 149 friends.

The Mandarins depart for DCI Tour on July 10, having completed the final California competition the previous week in Stanford. For the latest progress see our Mid-summer Update Video. The DCI Fan Network delivered fans post-show OnDemand Playback from Stanford, Calif. and Kalamazoo, Mich., both on July 5. Now, an unscheduled addition to the Fan Network's constantly growing archive of performances is the third and final show that took place on July 5, "Music in Motion" from Clifton, N.J.
The four world class performances from that event, featuring The Cadets, Carolina Crown, Boston Crusaders, and Crossmen, mean that all 18 of the 20 World Class corps performing on July 5 can now be seen in their entirety through the Fan Network.
