The Vanguard Cadets are in need of a few more volunteers for their food service operation on their second tour which begins on Thursday, July 17 through SoCal, Arizona and Texas, and returning to Santa Clara by Wednesday, July 28. Brad Furlano has a passion for drum corps and the La Crosse Blue Stars. The Onalaska native was the heart and soul of the Blue Stars for 12 years as their drum major.

For 11 of the drum corps at Western Michigan University on Saturday, it was just another performance in a long summer lineup.
For Legends of Kalamazoo Drum and Bugle Corps, it was a homecoming — a welcome respite in a 59-day 8,000-mile tour that is taking the group to 30 performances in 20 states this summer.
“It’s always great to come back, even if it is for a quick couple days to regain some family love — something we like to call Legends love,” said Ibe Sodawalla, Legends’ founder.

Stan Glyde was born and raised in Welling, a district in the London Borough of Bexley, South East London, England.
He and his three younger brothers enjoyed a typical childhood upbringing during that era. Things like taking cover under the kitchen table in the middle of the night while the air raid sirens wailed and while German WWII fighter planes soared overhead bombing neighborhoods in and around London was as common as running three miles across town to join his local lads in a game of cricket or football on a Saturday afternoon.
