The Vanguard Cadets are in need of a few more volunteers for their food service operation on their second tour which begins on Thursday, July 17 through SoCal, Arizona and Texas, and returning to Santa Clara by Wednesday, July 28. Of course, you don't have to volunteer the whole time, as you can meet them somewhere along the way.

Brad Furlano has a passion for drum corps and the La Crosse Blue Stars. The Onalaska native was the heart and soul of the Blue Stars for 12 years as their drum major.

Furlano was retail communications manager for Eddie Bauer in its corporate offices in Seattle in 2007 when the position of executive director of the La Crosse Blue Stars became available. The corps was preparing to return to the world class division for the first time in 30 years.

The Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps of Wayne, New Jersey participated in a Band-Aid drive started by a local girl. Gabriella Handal, age 12 of Totowa, New Jersey, started the Sunshine Collection last year to help pediatric Cancer patients in St. Joseph's Hospital in Paterson. For her first collection, Gabriella collected toys, games, books and DVDs to bring cheer to the young cancer patients. This year, the donation item was “fun” Band-Aids. The hospital is only able to provide standard, undecorated Band-Aids for the patients, so Gabriella collected Band-Aids with cartoon characters for the youngest cancer patients and colorful Band-Aids for the older pediatric patients.

In Memory Of Stan Glyde Print
Written by Blue Devils website
Sunday, 11 July 2010
Stan Glyde was born and raised in Welling, a district in the London Borough of Bexley, South East London, England.

He and his three younger brothers enjoyed a typical childhood upbringing during that era. Things like taking cover under the kitchen table in the middle of the night while the air raid sirens wailed and while German WWII fighter planes soared overhead bombing neighborhoods in and around London was as common as running three miles across town to join his local lads in a game of cricket or football on a Saturday afternoon.
