Two corps are gearing up for their return to DCI competitive action in the coming year, much to the delight of drum corps fans and corps supporters across the country.
Following two seasons of inactivity, the Columbus, Ohio-based Capital Regiment is preparing to return to the field of competition in 2009. With the audition and program design processes for this corps already underway, the organization is working with members of the Drum Corps International Participation Review Committee to return their organization to active status as a participant on the upcoming DCI Summer Tour. The corps last competed during the 2006 season finishing 16th at the World Championships that year.

Carolina Crown hosted a booth at both the annual North Carolina Music Educators Association conference in Winston-Salem, North Carolina and the Bands of America Grand National Championship in Indianapolis, Indiana.
The purpose of these booths was to promote all the educational opportunities that Crown provides as well as providing a great recruiting tool for the corps.It was also a great way for band directors and potential members to talk one on one with someone from the corps about any question s they might have.

Fifty days… 41 states… more than 100 spectacular events. Starting on June 20, the 2009 Drum Corps International Summer Tour will bring the exciting performances of the world’s most elite and exclusive marching music ensembles to passionate fans across the United States. With many familiar locations and favorite venues slated for inclusion on the ’09 schedule, fans will delight in the warmth of the summer while enjoying all of the action.

Congratulations go out today to North Port High School's Drum & Bugle Corps, which last weekend completed the 2008 competition season by finishing in the top 10 in class 2A at the state marching band finals.
The group performed three routines for their "Fiesta" themed show at Tropicana Field -- a Latin party theme that included dancing on the field and a "romance" between the assistant drum major and the captain of the color guard.

The 2009 season opened on a high note for Crown as the corps welcomed a record-setting turnout of 350 applicants at Nation Ford High School in Fort Mill, SC. The staff was excited at the talent level of the musicians and performers who were in attendance at the first camp weekend, not to mention their excitement towards what the new season holds!
