World Drum Corps Hall of Fame inductee Steve Cooley, of Dunkirk, New York has been instructing and arranging for horn lines in New York, Pennsylvania and Ontario since 1970. An earlier news release contained errors in the years he was associated with several corps and omitted information about his judging experience. The correct information follows. |

Bob Cardaneo, of Long Neck, Delaware, is the 2008 winner of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame President’s Lifetime Achievement Award. He is the first winner selected by Bob Glovna, of Bridgeport, Connecticut, who became president of the World Drum Corps Hall of Fame in September, 2007, replacing outgoing president George Bull, of Baltimore, Maryland. |

Saturday, April 26th, all corps and executives from Drum Corps Associates met in Scranton, PA for their Spring Meeting. President Gil Silva, opened the meeting with the roll call. The first thing noted was that after polling all corps present, Business Manager Dick Eschenmann, advised that currently we expect at least 25 or 26 competing corps to attend the DCA Championship Prelims in Rochester August 30th. He also reminded all corps that if they wish to compete at the Championship in Class A, they must declare so no later than June 1st. Proper procedure for doing this is provided in the rulebook. |

The Rochester Crusaders, in true Crusader style, have pushed all obstacles out of their way and moved forward this past weekend.
Brass arranger Jim Prime, Jr. and show coordinator Gene O’Brien spent the entire weekend with the Corps. On Saturday, the hornline, drumline, and front ensemble rehearsed music while the colorguard learned drill. The Corps broke for a brief lunch then ensembled in the gymnasium. Corps director Mike Linton and visual caption head Brian Wilt swiftly staged the Corps as needed for the evening performance. The Corps rehearsed several solid runs of the music together and then headed to Greece Apollo Middle School for their performance at St. Joe’s Alumni Corps, “Classic.” |

For the fourth year in a row the United Alumni Senior Drum & Bugle Corps, in cooperation with the Simcoe Lions Club, presents our popular stage concert featuring the music, pageantry and excitement of the finest marching bands in Ontario. Come on out for a great evening of entertainment and enjoy that “great big sound” that people loved back when “the Bands played on!” Tickets are $15 each and can be purchased from any member of the United Alumni or by contacting the Haldimand-Norfolk Information Centre in Simcoe at (519) 426-6655 (Visa accepted). Children under 12 are admitted free when accompanied by an adult. |
