The planning board for the Albany Mini-corps Project has announced a name for the group: Capital Brass.
With the founder and ex-members of the former DCA-finalist Capitol Brass (original spelling) on the planning board, discussions on a name kept coming back to this one.
The group already has several ex-members involved in the project. And the idea of carrying on the entertaining and progressive history of the former field corps, coupled with the very marketable and descriptive name, made the decision for the board. |

The Drum Corps Associates World Championships will be held in Rochester over Labor Day weekend at the new PAETEC Park in both 2006 and 2007. It is estimated that in each of the two years, the event will bring 20,000 people into our community and generate $11 million for the local economy. Ron “Rocky” Ghetti was a Drum Corps icon in the Troy, NY area; active with the Interstatesmen and countless junior corps in this area. He was an inspiration to an unknowable number of young people whom he taught throughout the years.
The Van Schaick Island Neighborhood Watch (of which Ron was the President) will dedicate the Ghetti Gazebo on Tuesday evening, August 1st, at 5:30pm on Van Schaick Island (Cohoes, NY).
The “Friends of Ron Ghetti" committee has organized a brass ensemble to perform in honor of Ron at this dedication. Thus far, members of six active corps have joined on for this project, including current members of the Skyliners, Skyliners Alumni Corps, Crusaders, Retrosound, 20th Century Limited and Capital Brass. |

Life begins after “death camp”, and the Kilties are alive and well. This year’s version of “death camp” once again left our skin a little burnt, our bodies a little sore, and our chops a bit worn, but we survived the intense rehearsals nicely. And then, as if to laugh in the face of our aching muscles, we capped it all off with a full run-through of our 2006 field show, and a nice performance in the Monday morning Racine Memorial Day parade.
Our camp weekend started at 10AM on Saturday for the guard and some members of the battery. The rest of the corps hit the field for an hour of stretching and basics at 1PM.
