Scholarship To Be Awarded At Vince Bruni Preview Of Champions Print

There will be two winners at the Vince Bruni Preview of Champions drum and bugle corps contest in Rochester on July 1: the corps that takes top spot in the contest, and the college student who wins a $1,000 scholarship to be awarded by the family of the late Harvey Martin. The scholarship winner will be announced during the contest, to be hosted for the second year in a row by the Empire Statesmen in Wegmans Stadium at Aquinas Institute.

The Preview features the second meeting of the season between the top two corps from last year’s Drum Corps Associates (DCA) championship. At Wildwood, NJ on June 17, the defending champion Buccaneers, of Reading, PA, won with a score of 76.788, with Rochester’s Empire Statesmen right behind in second place with 76.000.

It Will Be A Father And Son Reunion Print

Richard Goldberg may be the most impressive member of the 2006 Madison Scouts Alumni Reunion Corps.

The last night he marched with the Madison Scouts, he played soprano bugle. He was 13. The year was 1938.

Richard is an original Madison Scouts member. He'll be in the honor guard as the Scouts Reunion Corps appears at the Drum Corps International championships at Camp Randall Stadium on Aug. 10. And that will be the first time Richard and his son Robin will march together as Madison Scouts.

2006 DCA Alumni Spectacular Announced Print

The Alumni Spectacular on September 3 in Rochester NY will feature nine of the best alumni corps in the country. Performing at the event, in order of appearance are:

* Crusaders Sr. - Boston, MA
* Preston Scout House - Ontario, Canada
* Park City Pride - Bridgeport, CT
* Mighty St. Joe's - LeRoy, NY
* Bridgemen Alumni - Bayonne, NJ
* Yankee Rebels - Baltimore, MD
* Skyliners Alumni - New York, NY
* Caballeros Alumni - Hawthorne, NJ

Heat Wave Goes Mini-Corps For 2006 Print

The Heat Wave of Orlando will forego field competition this season and instead will enter the mini-corps contest at the 2006 championship in Rochester. The corps plans to return to full field competition in 2007.

Sound Of The South DCA Competition Print

The Washington, DC/Baltimore region comes alive at Sound of the South, a DCA South sanctioned Drum and Bugle Corps event where the best of DCA South meet the great perennial corps from the Northeast. Sound of the South is presented by Shenandoah Sound Drum and Bugle Corps at Anne Arundel Community College’s Siegert Field in Arnold, Maryland on July 22nd, 2006 at 7:30 pm.

Joining Shenandoah Sound in competition at the inaugural show are the CorpsVets from Atlanta, GA, Hurricanes from Derby, CT, New York Skyliners from New York, NY, Sunrisers from Nyack, NY, Music City Legend from Nashville, TN and Mon Valley Express from Pittsburgh, PA.
