 Rochester’s Empire Statesmen are heading into the Drum Corps Associates championship tournament weekend on a high note, winning Fanfare 2008 in West Haven, Connecticut, on August 23 with a score 94.213, including high caption scores in music effect, field and ensemble brass, music composite, ensemble percussion and field visual.
Hawthorne Caballeros were second with a score of 93.413, including a 0.3 penalty. Hometown Connecticut Hurricanes were third, with 92.975. Bushwackers rounded out the scoring with 89.688 to finish fourth. |

 DCA is pleased to provide the schedule for the 2008 DCA I&E/Mini Corps Competition this Friday night, August 29th at the Rochester Riverside Convention Center beginning at 5:30PM. This kicks off Championship Weekend and gives the opportunity for the performers to meet and greet old friends, renew rivalries and simply have a great time. Venues will be at both the Riverside Convention Center and the Clarion Hotel just across the street. Main Street will be closed to traffic creating a giant block party with food and beverage available. Come on in early for the biggest party in drum corps. Oh and don't forget to catch some great individual talent as well as those GREAT Mini Corps with routines that will knock your socks off. At the conclusion of the Mini Corps Competition, the great Hall of Famer, Ken Norman will conduct the massed units in his arrangement of the Kiltie's great "Auld Lang Syne" - a fitting tribute to DCA's respect to the history of drum corps and still looking forward to its bright future.

It's finally here. DCA 2008. This week, everyone in the DCA world will be packing their bags and traveling to Rochester, NY for the 2008 World Championships. Take special note that on line ticketing will cease Thursday evening August 28th, at 10:00PM. However, Tickets will be available on Thursday and Friday at DCA Headquarters in The Rochester Plaza Hotel on State Street just a few hundred feet north of Main St. The latest in DCA information will be available at the headquarters suite. This ticket location is only a few minutes walk from all the other downtown hotels and Friday night's I&E/Mini Corps Venues.

The regular season is now officially over and a great one it has been. In the last two shows of the season, Reading Buccaneers in their own show, retained #1 seed in prelims with a convincing 5 point victory over the Brigadiers and a final score of 95.538. In West Haven, CT, Empire Statesmen survived going on first and remained seeded second by posting a 94.213 score over second place Caballeros and Third place Hurricanes.
Other significant happenings included Brigadiers squeaking over Bushwackers in seeding as they broke the 90 barrier at 90.075 in Reading while Bushwackers posted an 89.680 in West Haven. One of the more significant scores of the night was Crusaders strong 3rd place finish in Reading with a 85.238 raising them back into the top 10 in seedings just slightly ahead of Racine Kilties. Declared Class A positioning moved about a bit as Fusion Core and Dansville White Sabers both moved up in seedings.

Chairman Dick Pronti has announced the order of appearance for the 2008 DCA Mini Corps Contest held at the Riverside Convention Center in Rochester on Friday August 29th. This event follows the annual I&E competition at the same site starting at 5:30. Main St. is blocked off to allow drum corps fans from everywhere to join together in Drum Corps' biggest block party.
