A new host agreement for DCA's biggest weekend gathering was discussed and approved by corps directors at the Spring DCA meeting held today at Lackawanna County Stadium in Scranton, Pennsylvania. Interestingly, Lackawanna County Stadium was site of the most recent DCA Championships, now moved to Rochester for the 2006 season. The agreement signed today provides for an additional year (2007) in Rochester.

Speaking from the Stadium Club, DCA President Gil Silva explained " we knew for months a return to Rochester for another year was very likely. There are so many benefits to our member corps whenever DCA hosts its main event at the same location for successive years. Off-season travel planning becomes so much easier for everyone involved."

Milford, Connecticut; Jersey City, New Jersey; and Philadelphia, Pennsylvania are the only previous championship host cities not to benefit from a second DCA Championship visit. Of the three, just Philadelphia remains a candidate to return as host.

"To have the DCA World Championships in Rochester in 2006, and now returning in 2007, is a major coup for Rochester. The DCA's economic impact on our community is very welcome indeed," said Ed Hall, president and CEO of the Greater Rochester Visitors Association. "The Rochester area owes a debt of gratitude to the Empire Statesmen, and in particular to Allen Buell, for their commitment and assistance in promoting the area to the DCA membership. We must also commend them for the 2007 championships as well."
