Representatives of the marching band will ask the City of Hamilton corporate administration committee on Wednesday to forgive its interest free loan and property tax arrears of $202,463. A city staff report argues against writing off the debt because it would "set a precedent that could have significantly unfavourable financial impact on the City of Hamilton with respect to $17 million of other outstanding loans."
