The GLASSMEN are very pleased to announce the addition of longtime instructor, adjudicator, and composer Don Hill to the design team. Don will serve as the brass arranger and composer for the 2008 season, and also serve as the special consultant to the brass program.

"It is truly exciting to have the opportunity to finally work with Don," states Executive Director Brian Hickman, "and I think he will be a natural fit with program coordinators Sal Salas and Joe Heininger as they endeavor to redefine the corps, and write the next chapter for the GLASSMEN."

Don has had a long and varied career in drum and bugle corps. From his early years as a performer with the Des Plaines Vanguard, to his role as brass instructor and later arranger for the La Crosse Blue Stars; all the way to his involvement with Drum Corps International as an adjudicator, and later being named the Brass and Music General Effect Caption Head for DCI, a position he held for seven years. Don's recent involvement in the activity has included work with the Cadets design team as the brass arranger, and as a consultant to the Bluecoats.

Beyond the drum corps activity, Don continues to be active in the band field as well. Don has had marching band arrangements published by Hal Leonard, Inc., and has arranged for many top level high school competitive marching bands; including Plymouth - Canton Educational Park, from 1994 to 2005. He presently arranges for The Woodlands, and L. D. Bell high schools among others. He has also judged extensively in the United States and Japan.

Donald has been a member of The American Society of Composers and Publishers (ASCAP) since 1994, and six times has received recognition from the ASCAP Special Awards Panel for his original works. His concert band pieces have been performed throughout the United States as well as in Japan and Australia, and he was recently honored as a featured composer at the University of South Florida. He is published by Great Works, Inc. and Ludwig Music Publishing Company.

Don is very excited about his new relationship with the corps. “The Glassmen is a very solid organization with a proud tradition. I look forward to the opportunity of working with the staff and membership, in helping to write a new chapter in their illustrious history.”

Don currently lives in Los Angeles, where he is pursuing a career in composing music for film and television.
