Targets Announce 2008 Drum Major Print
Written by Doreen Sandor, Brass Arranger, Springfield Targets
Monday, 24 March 2008
The Targets Drum & Bugle Corps from Springfield, Massachusetts, are pleased to announce the appointment of Robert Coleman as the 2008 Targets Drum Major.

Robert Coleman is a 2004 graduate of Douglas S. Freeman High School (Richmond, Virginia). He brings to the position many years of music experience – including a history as conductor/musical director of various instrumental and choral ensembles along the east coast. Robert currently resides in Nashua, New Hampshire as an undergraduate student at Daniel Webster College, where he is pursuing degrees in Aviation Flight Operations and Aviation Management.

“The Targets Drum & Bugle Corps is at a crucial turning point within the organization’s history – as Drum Major I do not tread lightly over the responsibilities in which I have been entrusted. At all times, I shall hold myself - and the members - to the highest standards of excellence. I truly look forward to a remarkable season and the opportunity to create friendships and memories that will last a lifetime!”

Auditions are still open for Assistant Drum Majors. While drum majoring experience is preferred, the Targets staff will work with someone with less experience who shows superior leadership and musicianship skills, attitude, and responsibility. Contact the corps director, David Covington (413-348-6040), for membership and audition information or go to the Targets Website (http://www.targetsdbc.org).
