Frontier To Compete In DCA Class A For 2008 Print
Written by Scott Wolfe, Frontier

Frontier Drum and Bugle Corps of Denton, TX will compete in Drum Corps Associates Class A division for the 2008 season. In evaluating the corps membership and input from veterans, corps co-directors Manny Guerrero and Roger Treacher decided it was in the best interest of the corps to compete in this division. According to Brass caption head (and former corps director) Chris Green “We've always been A class size, but we went Open Class before so we would be certain to get a later time slot. With a large number of band directors in the corps with Friday night football games, getting them into town was difficult and we needed as late of a time as possible. Now the rules have changed in regards to Prelims seeding. All corps are seeded based on their August scores, giving us no real advantage to being "Open Class" unless we are indeed over 65 members.”

The corps is planning to march 32 brass, 20 percussion, and 12 color guard this summer. The corps will perform its show entitled “There and Back Again” which includes the selections Ride by Samuel Hazo, I’ll Be Seeing You by Kahal and Fain, Caravan by Tizol, and Scootin’ On Hardrock by David Holsinger. The corps will take it’s travel based show across the country visiting Denton, Austin, and Houston, TX as well as Chicago, IL, St. Paul and St. Peter, MN and culminating the competitive season in Rochester, NY at the DCA Championships over Labor Day weekend.

If you live in the Dallas area, the corps is always looking for more talented instructors and performers. Please visit the corps website at http://www.frontiercorps.org.
