Rockford’s Phantom Regiment drum and bugle corps came home before it left this year. Because of a shortened Drum Corps International touring season, the annual Show of Shows at Boylan Catholic High School was the Regiment’s first competition of the season, giving local fans the opportunity to hear the debut performance of the 2008 program, “Spartacus.” A crowd of 3,500 at Boylan Stadium enthusiastically greeted the Regiment, whose score of 72.4 points was one short of the winning Cavaliers of Rosemont.
