As Scott Kelly stood on the infield grass at Holman Stadium on Friday night, he showcased a sense of pride although it was done with a marching drum and harness instead of a baseball glove and bat. Kelly was one of 48 members of the Spartans Drum and Bugle Corps performing at the ballpark for the city's annual Fourth of July celebration, providing a musical foreground for the colorful backdrop created by fireworks. The night took special importance to Kelly, an 18-year-old snare drummer from Bethel, Conn. Kelly will soon enlist in the Army, and is vocal about his patriotism and the importance of Independence Day. Read the rest of the article here. |
