Drum Corps World Connects With Fans Through Social Networking Print
Written by Mike Ferlazzo, Drum Corps World
Tuesday, 08 December 2009
The primary newspaper and a respected source of news on the drum and bugle corps activity for 38 years, Drum Corps World has now created a greater ways for fans to connect with it through social media. Fans can now become a “fan” of Drum Corps World on the publication’s new Facebook page at http://www.facebook.com/DrumCorpsWorld, and can also “follow” it on Twitter on http://twitter.com/DrumCorpsWorld.

Daily DCW features on both Facebook and Twitter, Monday through Friday, will include a “Photo of the day” by DCW staff photographers – one that generally hasn’t previously appeared in the paper or in one of DCW’s history books – as well as a "Did you know?" historical drum corps fact. Photos of the day will feature DCI corps on Monday, DCA corps on Tuesday, foreign corps on Wednesday, alumni/mini-corps on Thursday and a historical corps on Friday.

The sites will also have updates on what DCW staff will be working on for future issues of the paper, news about other history books and historic CDs and DVDs for sale at http://www.drumcorpsworld.com/, as well as links to other news from the drum corps world.

“We’re happy to be able to connect with fans in a more interactive way through social media,” said Drum Corps World Publisher/Editor Steve Vickers. “We hope that they’ll enjoy being on the ‘inside’ of what we’re working on at the paper. We also look forward to input on future stories they’d like to see us write.”

Vickers reports that fans can call 1-800-554-9630 between now and December 18 – 8:00 AM. to 9:00 PM Central time, seven days a week – to start a brand-new, one-year subscription for new or returning subscribers to Drum Corps World for only $25.00. This price is not available on the Web site or in the newspaper.
