Written by Fred Windish, Drum Corps Associates
Sunday, 19 March 2006
Drum Corps Associates today announced details on the Alumni Classic event to be presented as part of the 2006 DCA World Championships presented by A.J. Wright. A full program of ten popular corps will appear on Sunday, September 3, 10am, at new PAETEC Park in Rochester, New York.
Scheduled to perform are The Crusaders Sr. Drum and Bugle Corps of Boston, Massachusetts, Hawthorne Caballeros Alumni, New York Skyliners Alumni, Preston Scout House Alumni, Yankee-Rebels Alumni, Park City Pride, Erie Thunderbirds Alumni, Chicago Royal Airs Alumni, Mighty St. Joe's Alumni, and the Bayonne Bridgemen Alumni.
All tickets for the Alumni Classic are General Admission, priced at $15 each.
Last year, in Scranton, several thousand fans turned out to enjoy " Sunday brunch with the legends" and were thrilled by selections that remain classics in drum corps history. Throughout the event many fans will enjoy old drum corps stories as told by performers who have come together for what is considered to be the biggest trubute show in existence. Put aside all reference to age, these folks can still light it up, creating hours of stand-up and cheer entertainment.
According to DCA President Gil Silva, the Alumni Classic becomes more popular every year. " We receive many more requests to perform than we can handle within our time frame," said Silva. " It's so very hard to select our performers, as we so much respect all of these organizations."
