With the transfer to the new forum software and layout, some things were removed ... and others added - in the hopes of making the user interface more efficient. Quite frankly, I don't see any value in one knowing their 'member number'. However, if you want to learn all about a user - all you have to do is click on their name and view their user profile. The member number is the integer that precedes the user name in the URL - if you need to know.

Yep, hometowns should definitely be listed with every post. It's interesting to know what part of the country the poster is from.
