  1. 1. What do you think?

    • Cavies can pull it off.
    • NO! 5 basses forever!

Then there was Phantom's 18 snares in '83.

It is always a fun effect when you put more drums on the field than most people are used to seeing/hearing.

Madison '96 (8 tenors)

Crossmen '95 (10 bass drums in feature at the end)

Madison '98 (All snares and tenors started on snare, if I remember correctly)

Just to name a few.

Spirit 89' (9 Basses)

I forgot about Offensive Lions 11 BD's

I marched in two 6 man lines (87 & 88) and we had 6 in 1982 and 1986 as well.

I also marched in a 6 man line in Bushwackers 1995.

Not really that big a deal, although I did prefer playing in a 5 man line.

Now when the Offensive lions marched an 11 man bass line - that's something to get excited about.

You can never have too many basses in a drum corps.

Boston '03, entire line started the show on snare.

Will you snare drummers stop cluttering this thread. I know you all have heard this before, but it's not all about you!

I'd like to say I started this just to see what people thought. I don't think it's a big deal at all. But there are some people out there who are dead set on 5. And while it's not a new concept, it has been a while since we've had 6 basses of the same color on the field. Almost as if we're looking back on this 40th anniversary of DCI.

I thought we all agreed never to tell them that.

Keep moving on, snare drummers. The big, bad non-snare drummer was just being silly.
