Ray Priester Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 It is my sad duty to report the passing of Louise Mayer, WDCHOF member and First Lady of the New York Skyliners and DCA passed away in her sleep this morning. Her daughter, Linda, was by her side when she passed. She reunites with her beloved "Lefty", along with Hy, Wink, Pepe, Cos and so many more. May she rest in peace. No details at this time. Ray Quote
Fran Haring Posted May 12, 2012 Posted May 12, 2012 (edited) Wow... very sorry to hear this news. Mrs. Mayer was a wonderful lady. I always looked forward to seeing her and her daughter at DCA Championships each year. May she rest in peace. Another drum corps legend has left us. Edited May 13, 2012 by Fran Haring Quote

Ray A truly sad day for the NY Skyliners and DCA family ... Louise was a most ardent supporter of both ... somehow the GAS Reunions will not be the same ... I'm glad I got to see her at the Corps' 65th Banquet last October ... Lefty is surely saying "Yes, Dear" as I write this, while Pepe is beckoning her to sit at their table to share a story or two ... tis' a fine life we have to look forward to above - where the many meet the few ... RIP Louise ... Quote
bushdm86 Posted May 14, 2012 Posted May 14, 2012 It was an honor receiving the first place trophy from Mrs. Mayer in 1986. I felt very fortunate to have someone of such historical importance there to congratulate me and my corps. She was very gracious and kind. This is a sad day. On behalf of the Bushwackers organization to the Mayer family, Skyliner family and drum corps fans, our deepest condolences. Quote
