Big Adam Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 Dear Caballeros Friends and Family, There are so many great things going on here at the Caballeros. We have one of the best design teams in the nation. Rich Templin, Key Poulan, Rob Ferguson, Eric Robertshaw and Joe Heininger have created a show that will stand out in the Caballeros vast repertoire as one of the most unique and appealing shows we have ever done. I have worked with many staffs in my time and I can tell you that our design team, caption heads and instructional staff are second to none. They are knowledgeable, friendly and are dedicated to making our season a successful one. We also have a team of administrators that work tirelessly to accommodate the staff's crazy demands and make sure the membership is ready to become world class performers. The membership this year is driven, motivated and excited to entertain the crowds. In addition the corps is rolling out a new equipment truck and will unveil a brand new red and black two-tone set of battery equipment courtesy of Dynasty. There is so much excitement circling the Caballeros this year that we can hardly contain it and every piece of the puzzle seems to be effortlessly falling into place. We will be finishing the show a month before we have ever been able to complete a show, we have more members than we have put on the field in recent years and most importantly we are having a real fun time doing it. However there is one thing that is missing from this season that could hold back all these great things that are happening this year and that thing is a few more people to fill out our membership. Unfortunately, like most drum corps, May is a tough month to keep membership numbers high. As people have to commit to summer jobs and end of the school year obligations we tend to lose a few people along the way. Currently the Caballeros brass line is looking for 1 Baritone and 1 Tuba to make our hornline highly competitive this year. Also the percussion section is looking for 1 cymbal and 1 xylophone player. That's it..... the musical ensemble is four members away from really wowing the audience in Wildwood. The great thing about the brass and percussion line is that a majority of these sections have been together since day one and are already firing on all cylinders, so if you are interested in marching then it would be real easy for you to jump right into it because you are surrounded by a great team that is always willing to help. Lastly to complete our amazing season we could use 3 more members to fill out the colorguard. Building upon the success of last year's awesome colorguard this year will be a great mix of talented veterans and enthuasiastic rookies. Bobbey Biddle and Joe Heininger are very excited to not only show you how well the guard can spin but are excited to show off this year's guard costume. It will be one of a kind for the colorguard as they fill the show with beautiful moments that take your breathe away. You can clearly see that there are many people that want to be part of this season as their only a few limited spots available. To be in May and only 7 people away from filling our drum corps, shows that this is the place to be this summer and it would a shame for you to miss out. If you don't play an instrument or spin equipment then we could still use your help as a volunteer. Don't let this season pass you by because you will only end up regretting not being a part of it. 2012 is a turning point for the Caballeros and these final spots mean that you still have an opportunity to be part of it, it's still not too late for you to be here and make us great. If you are interested in marching or volunteering please contact Mike Ryan at m.ryan@cabs.org. All you have to do is say "Yes, I'll be there" and your summer will be one of the most memorable you will ever have.... The only thing that is missing is you! Join the Excitement. Sincerely, Adam Freeman Hawthorne Caballeros Brass Co-caption Head ajf.band@yahoo.com 2 Quote
Fran Haring Posted May 15, 2012 Posted May 15, 2012 (edited) Very much looking forward to seeing the 2012 Caballeros! I'd fill one of those spots, but I don't want the corps to miss Finals because of that. Edited May 15, 2012 by Fran Haring 1 Quote
