No, it's also important to know where we come from.. It is also important to create and possess a sense of community, commonality, and continuance.

Traditions don't have to be "on the performance field". There's lots of room for tradition *outside* of performances.

Hmmm...not sure I'll 100% agree with that. And in any case -- even if I did I agree -- not all of those alterations are necessarily negative. Many experiences away from the performance field can *improve* the final product.
