Ray Priester Posted June 7, 2012 Posted June 7, 2012 1964 or '65, I remember having to wait a bit for a contest to start in Oakland, NJ while the local animal folks removed a Timber Rattler that had wandered onto the field during the morning. Definitely a "striking performance"! Ray Quote

lindap Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 1 camel on parade, same parade as about 10 drum corps. The camel made the headlines, we were in the newspaper article somewhere :) Quote
84BDsop Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 Mosquitoes the size of eagles at Horicon Marsh Days. Nothing unusual there.....that's the State Bird of Wisconsin anyway! 1 Quote
ozarkbugler Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 The legendary Jackalope. Although not seen in person many of us had pictures of them on postcards. Quote
TrainWreck Posted June 8, 2012 Posted June 8, 2012 1982 - a Bear in Estes Park Co. before the floods happened. Dave Hogan and I were cruising along up the mountain when we encountered a bear standing on his hind legs looking at us. We freaked went bolting down the hill and I think the bear may went the other direction. Who knows. We fell onto the road way in front of a van driven by a staff member and her cousin the Estes Park Ranger. So - we had to give details on the encounter. Without divulging the contents of our Barcardi bottle :) Aside from that...the normal scorpions in Nevada and New Mexico rest stops. Scorpions were always a big hit. Let them run by you and attack your utensils as you tease them. Quote
IllianaLancerContra Posted June 10, 2012 Posted June 10, 2012 (edited) Mosquitoes the size of eagles at Horicon Marsh Days. Yup. Had a boss years later who used to go duck hunting in the abundant wetlands there. That explains the mosquitoes. Edited June 10, 2012 by IllianaLancerContra Quote
