DrumManTx
No. People already know what marching band is. The point is to have a show that is something you'd never see at halftime. It's something mainstream people can connect to, like it or not, they'd probably REALLY enjoy something like that.
jasgre2000
I think it really depends on personal taste. The shows you listed probably have more mass appeal than others, but I have to say that this year's BD show is one of the most entertaining and compelling I have seen in a long time (and I am not normally a fan of BD shows, to be honest). I took a girl I was dating to a DCI theater show a couple years ago, and her favorite was SCV's Bartok show. It was her first DCI experience. I loved that show as well, and think Star's Medea show is amazing. Edited July 13, 2012 by jasgre2000

Roark1
The year Boston did Bolero. I think that show was called 'Red". One of my favorite shows EVER!
FaustianMachine
The year Boston did Bolero. Do you mean 2000 or 2003? Although, both shows are quite good in my opinion.

ShortAndFast
From recent years, I've found that non-corps types usually find these shows interesting Cadets 2011 (cool viusal of the 2 uniforms and interesting portrayal of angels vs demons) Phantom 2008 (duh) Crown 2007 (very accessible music, maybe still Crown's best designed show) Cavaliers 2004/06 (everyone knows James Bond and can figure out "machine". the drill in both shows is fascinating) For people who are into classical music, I might add Crown 2009 (impressive brass performance with well-chosen music to complement the Copland) SCV 2010 (The visual does such a nice job of interpreting the music in this show. Maybe I just know too many people who like Bartok!) Phantom 2005 (really nice treatment of Gershwin, I think this show is kind of underrated by drum corps fans)
