Simplistic Atlanta Review

I was in the lot watching Cadets warm up. Nice horn line sound. It's been 5 years since I've seen a drum corps show. Fun to catch one corps in the lot.

Now the show....what I saw of it. Before you get all fired up why I didn 't see more, my kid had two baseball games that day and that's all I had time for. So go pound sand if you're not happy with that.

Let me preface this by saying I marched long ago in a DCI contender. I don't care who wins, I just like seeing great drum corps. Call me a homer if I support my own corps, but if you know me, you know I could care less about the scores or placement

Cavies

I missed Cavies but from the sounds of the crowd while I waited to get to my seat, the crowd LOVED them! Quite different from the reviews I read on line. Perhaps those with unbiased opinions really enjoy the performances and not worry about "...what it's about".

Cadets

I like them. I absolutely loved the "Do You Hear What I Hear" segment of the show. The horn line was absolutely beautiful.

Bluecoats

Cool beans show. Noticed the bass drums with the cool looking drum heads. Is this the wave of the future, customized drum heads to match the show? Saw one bass drummer loose his mallet. Bummer.

Really enjoyed the show.

SCV

Liked the musical part of the show. Visually, from the 3rd deck. Looked like a mess. Tons to clean, not sure they can get it done.

Phantom Regiment

The contrast of the guard uniforms from the corps proper was the best of the night IMO. Very start contrast and readable from the 3rd deck. I enjoyed PR.

Blue Devils

The first BIG sound of the night. They were on fire and from where I sat the crowd really enjoyed them. I loved their show and the sound of the horn line. HIghly entertained.

Crown

Another BIG sounding horn line. Loved hearing their show. The show is obviously designed for a dome with the tymp sets on the side lines. Very cool at the Georgia Dome. I thought the beginning of the show was strange. Perhaps I'm different since I thought this was strange and BD"s was cool. Oh well. The last 1/3 of the show.......BALLS. I loved it.

I had BD in first by a big margin. Their performance level and energy were off the hook. Crown in 2nd with that big sound and Cadets rounding out the top 3.
