hostrauser Posted April 14, 2013 Posted April 14, 2013 RIP to a legend, the principal trumpet of the Chicago Symphony Orchestra for over 50 years (1948-2001), Adolph Sylvester "Bud" Herseth, who passed today at the age of 91. 2 Quote
ironlips Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 Bud Herseth was the principal trumpet of the finest orchestra in the country, and now a drum corps kid sits in his chair. The man influenced every serious brass player in the USA, even if they don't realize it. For a good notion of how he played, I recommend the CD "The Chicago Principal". Quote
SCTuba Posted April 15, 2013 Posted April 15, 2013 He was truly an inspiration, every recording of the CSO from his era absolutely blows me away. We've lost a fantastic player, pedagogue and person today. I wish I could've had the opportunity to meet him and have a lesson with him, it would have been an incredible experience. RIP Bud, you will be missed by the entire music community. Quote
