KeithHall Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 If you were given complete control of DCI, what changes would you make? 1 Quote
SFZFAN Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Rule Changes: 1st. Outlaw all electronics use except for amplification of acoustic pit instruments. 2nd. Mandate that every DCI corps publically burn their synthesizers. (safely, of course) 3rd. Allow no more than 30 seconds of dancing hornline (or drumline) in a given DCI performance. (extra points for none at all) You didn't say we had to be realistic! 5 Quote
shawnguitarguy Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 Less synths and electronics, louder horns. Crowd pleasing shows, judging based more on crowd appeal. I ask for pretty much what everyone wants, I'm easy to please. 2 Quote
perc2100 Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 fewer corps directors on the BOD While you and I might agree with this, do you think if this change came down as a 'hard' mandate from the DCI Executive Director we would have a mutiny and/or several corps jumping ship? The odd thing about DCI is that it is a true Dichotomy seemingly at odds with itself: * you have the side that strives to maintain fair competitive balance, maintain control at the hands of the corps who makeup DCI, funnel revenue from the parent organization down to the member corps, etc. * on the flip side the organization is run by the Directors who are actively competing on the field, who stand to gain/lose the most when it comes to decisions made by DCI BOD. Definitely an "odd" arrangement... Quote

BRASSO Posted May 20, 2013 Posted May 20, 2013 (edited) If you were given complete control of DCI, what changes would you make? Mandate that every Corps, at a date and time selected by me, perform an encore on the street directly in front of my house. Edited May 20, 2013 by BRASSO 6 Quote

Definitely an "odd" arrangement... Oh I know there'd be riots in the conference room in Indy. In fact, it'd be my hope the Fan Network broadcasts it for a fee. But the current BOD, with people competing against each other part of the year, plus running their own corps and trying to operate the mothership makes for way too many problems...especially those of the forest can't see for the trees. Remember, not to get all G7 here, but you had directors saying DCI is a mess...well...who made it that way? Oh right, those directors. Quote
