MsBusDriver Posted May 21, 2013 Posted May 21, 2013 Now that the Super Bowl will be played at the new 49ers Stadium in 2016, http://sports.yahoo.com/news/nfl--san-francisco-wins-bid-for-super-bowl-l-185056782.html . Wouldn't it be cool if DCI decided to bid for the Stadium in 2017 for World Championship? After all, it would be nice if DCI would come to the West Coast again for the second time in its history. Not to mention that it is SCVs 50th anniversary. What could be better? Eh, I can dream, can't I? 3 Quote
Tony Flores Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 The Indy contact goes through at least 2018 if I am not mistaken. 1 Quote

Its about time DCI relooked going West (contract or no contract with Indy). The West gets a token east coast corps each year that comes West in the early season and by July all the corps have departed east. And your right - what a perfect place to host DCI Finals than the new 49ers Stadium in Santa Clara. If its good enough for the Super Bowl it should be good enough for DCI. 2 Quote

And when was the last time that the Crossmen ventured West past Oklahoma or New Mexico to do a show in Denver, let alone the Pacific Coast or Northwest? Yea, Pasadena 2007 probably like everyone else! In fact, when was the last time all the West Coast corps saw Oregon or Washington? Seems it's the Eastern corps with PR and Cavies which do those trips on the main with a token SCV or BK presence, but never all the Western corps together Yes, more West Coast, oh, we're so the victims here, without real hard facts. kickhaltsforlife Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 I remember complaints last year of BD barely even performing on the West Coast, and having more rehearsal/off days than anything else once the competition season started. I think a lot of those days were System Blue camps also... but still non-DCI tour events. 1 Quote

One east of the Mississippi corps per year coming to the West is NOT the same as BD, SCV, PC, Academy, and occasionally BDB and SCVC going east every year. ONE finals week in California since 1972...ONE. 3 Quote

ONE finals week in California since 1972...ONE. And the way the drunk and marijuana high California crowd booed the Eastern corps, especially the Cadets who complained about the poor field conditions in that dilapilated, not handicap accessible facility with bathrooms almost two blocks away in the parking lots was one DCI too many in many fans perspectives. My point was that the Western corps do not even support each other as witnessed by their feeble assent to Cascades, Oregon Crusaders, and Spokane Thunder according to their annual travel treks in the West. And for the record, it is at least one Eastern corps and one Midwestern corps each year going coast to coast including the Northwest. Check the records and stop being so narcissistic. 3 Quote
Jeff Ream Posted May 22, 2013 Posted May 22, 2013 as much as I love the idea ( and I live in PA), I think we're stuck in Indy forever. 1 Quote

By taking the time necessary, they mastered their show. However. They do not always spend as much time out of competition, and because they did do this past year does not ean they will do do in 2017. I always love seeing the West Coast corps in New England, so California in 2017 is fine with me. It is the fair thing to do. Edited May 22, 2013 by Tim K 3 Quote
