Sad that I was the only one to vote for BD 1997.

The only one so far, maybe, but the poll is just four hours old!

I wish I had seen that show live; I'm very fond of Casablanca.

Gonna have to go homer here and vote for Le Tour, very satisfying and beautiful backfield (I think if I'm remembering it right.) ending with the Finals week touch of the bike, and then go with Ballet for Martha because that show had a level of brilliance to it, going from that massive hit of Simple Gifts to ending the show with more beautiful music.

I love the silent ending, its a real chance for the corps to bring out some more beautiful and touching music before the show ends, and usually, just means that the climax is a minute or so earlier instead of at the ending note. A rare exception I think is Cabaret Voltaire in the sense that the silent ending part of their ending actually wasn't necessarily beautiful music, it was very reminiscent on the chaotic nature of the show previous, while the beauty in the music came from that wonderful lead-up into the final brass hit. (Which I daresay was probably one of my favorite moments in a show all last year.) Reminded me a lot of a certain tune I played in high school that had a silent and very foreboding ending, Movement for Rosa.

I picked Cadets 1987 because 1988 Blue Devils was not listed!

SCV has always been the masters of the down ending. They originated it, and have always been great at it. So I voted SCV 2000 and 2009, both amazing endings to amazing shows

My high school band did a bit of a remake of Santa Clara's '89 phantom of the opera in 2010 so I'm a bit biased! (I just graduated from highschool). If anyone is curious about how it sounds (I doubt anyone is but worth a shot) here's a link

I thought about BD '88, really I did --what a fun show that one is!-- but I decided the ending wasn't quiet enough to put on the poll. There's a Magic of Orlando show that similarly ends with a medium-volume play off (sing off, mostly) that I also didn't list. But that's why I gave people the option of choosing "other" for the third question.
