Stalin and satire on the field? (BAC 2014)

Peter and The Wolf?

" Carnival of the Animals " .... Saint Saens.. perhaps ? ( might not be edgy enough though, imo )

Pink Floyd did some music BITD that supposedly was pattened after Orwell's " Animal Farm " too, if recall too ( was edgy ).

Lots of great possibilities, but right now I really don't have a clue what they'll do for music.

Their entire "Animals" album? It's very loosely based on Animal Farm, while focusing mostly on the socio-political climate of Britain in the late 70s. And the subservient, mindless sheep eventually rise up and take out the dogs in Pink Floyd's version.

Wouldn't mind seeing some of that music on the field, but it would be tough putting a concept album on the field without doing the whole thing.

I'm sure someone will feel this is unappropriate material to put on the field.

Peter and The Wolf?

Tons of options for Prokofiev. Just some possibilities:

  • Alexander Nevsky Battle on the Ice for the revolution
  • Lieutenant Kije Troika for the early farm days of hard work and harmony
  • Symphonic Song for the descent into dark periods, including the end of Boxer
  • Latter portions of the 5th Symphony's 4th movement for the partying pigs reveling with, and just like, the humans

I'm sure a Shostakovich program could also be good.

Or maybe they'll just play Old MacDonald.

Ha that'd be funny: 12 minutes of the same melodic theme over and over and over with members dressed in fluffy stuffed animal costumes.
