Galen
A few scores have been updated to correct for a tabulation error. If you were using Crossmen in any captions, your scores will have changed from earlier this morning.
Jhawk
I'm loving the competition in the top 12 of World Class less than 1 point difference between us all.
Galen
Things got even tighter last night as 2 corps eclipsed the 90-point barrier! Fresh off of breaking 90 at their separate respective shows last night, California Knights and Buckeye Brass headline the first Texas event of the season at Grande Communications Stadium in Midland. This should be a GREAT matchup! Additionally, a new Pacific Northwest corps, Idaho Regiment, makes their debut tonight. Back in the southeast, we've got a contest scheduled between several finalist contenders, including Ivory Brigade, Star of Jupiter and Phantom Vanguard, set to overflow the stands at Madison Central HS in Jackson MS. The lone Open/Class A event is set to go in the Quad Cities area, with Open Class corps taking the field at Rock Island HS in Rock Island IL and Class A corps marching into action at Brady Street Stadium in Davenport IA. Galen
We've got a very busy day planned for today as just about every area of the country will have corps competing today. Like a former Miami Heat player, DCPI returns to northeast Ohio for a split Open/Class A event today. Open Class corps will compete at Lakeside HS in Ashtabula, where Nastalgia will look to notch another win in their belts, while Class A corps get to march off by the lake at Avon Lake HS. World Class corps are just as busy today with a trio of events at Cajun Stadium in Lafayette LA, where Bluecoat Brigade will be hoping to continue to close the gap between Star of Jupiter and Polaris Regiment, War Memorial Stadium in Little Rock AR, where Buckeye Brass vs. The Knights looks to be the most compelling matchup, and Kelly Reeves Stadium in Round Rock TX, where California Knights look to get some momentum back after stumbling a bit in Midland last night. Galen
We're going deep (clap clap clap clap) into the heart of Texas today, with shows in both Dallas and Houston. After surprising a lof of corps with a strong second place finish in Round Rock, Red Coat Regiment will be aiming for the top of the leaderboard tonight at Kimbrough Stadium in Plano. Unfortunately, the Allen megastadium has been closed down due to structural damages, so we've had to look for other venues for the Dallas event. Fortunately though, the Berry Center Stadium in Houston was built properly, The Texas Trailblazers will be looking to shine in a home state event for them, while The Knights try to throw a wrench in Star of Jupiter's momentum. Back up north, Open Class and Class A corps are in Evansville IN for the final stop before the big combined event in Bowling Green KY. Open Class corps will march into the Reitz Bowl, while Class A corps will be at Bundrant Stadium, one of several new venues recently constructed or upgraded by the local school district. Jhawk
Kaiju Corps is undergoing a major overhaul so I expect them to fall during this week of shows, but should make a steam rolling comeback right before finals week.
Galen
Happy Saturday! Corps have been working extra hard this week and it's going to pay off with today's sweepstakes events. World class corps square off at Amon Carter Stadium in Fort Worth for a second year of the Texas regional being outside. The standings have been incredibly tight, and there are no fewer than 8 corps with a realistic chance to win today. Open Class and Class A corps will be competing in a split-regional format in the Bluegrass State. Open Class corps will be at WKU Stadium in Bowling Green KY, where Euphony Vanguard, Dunder Mifflin Paper Carriers and Blue Ridge Brigade will look to climb to the top of the pack while Buckeye Brass B, Spirit of Indy and Tokyo Tornados look to gain ground. Meanwhile, Class A corps will be in action at Roy Stewart Stadium in Murray KY, where Lake Erie Storm looks to continue their recent surge and Cross looks to get back to their winning ways after slipping a few spots last night. NickTheDrummer
After floundering in the standings for the majority of the season due to a mysterious leave of absence from their directors (also known as me being away almost all summer ), the Scarlet group of corps have made some significant changes to their shows and are hoping to come on strong at the finish. Good luck to all today!
StarOrg
For some reason Star of Jupiter finds a little extra magic on Saturday nights. I hope it continues.
Galen
No shows today but some GREAT action last night in Texas and Kentucky. On the World Class side, we had margins resembling what we usually see on Finals night- which bodes very well for a competitive finals week! Star of Jupiter came out on top in Fort Worth, but as I predicted, there are at least a half-dozen corps easily within striking distance. On the Open Class side, Nastalgia laid down a rock-solid performance at their home show to take 1st place. They've got a slightly more comfortable lead over the rest of the field, but a good mix of perennial contenders like Mercury, Les Blanc Chevaliers, Star of Hawaii and Knights of Sound as well as younger corps like Scarlet Regiment and Abracadabra Academy should definitely keep things interesting for the next two weeks. And in Class A, it was Hg showing off some more of their recent muscle that's been netting them some recent victories. Lake Erie Storm and Lowell Lancers each put in very strong performances to quietly sneak ahead of some of the Class A powerhouses like Xothyme, but nothing is settled yet. I've just entered the fifth and final caption change into the system, so all directors should now be able to max out their corps' captions to the limits of their respective divisions (155/125/100). Remember, those caption points are there for you to use, so if you're not seeing the kind of success you've hoped for, double-check to make sure you're using all of the points you have available to you.
