Indoor Help

Snives

Recommended Posts

Hello, I am interested in starting an indoor percussion ensemble at my school this year. The director of bands at my school said that if I did most of the work in the organization of the group and there was enough interest, we would probably be able to do it. As I am new to the activity, I have a few questions that my director wants to know.

  • What are the competitive circuits (preferably around Illinois)?
  • How much does it cost to enter these competitive circuits?
  • What are the rules on music/drill (length, style, etc.)?
  • Are we allowed to use music from a band (copyright information)?
  • For people who have ran similar groups, how much did it cost you?

Thanks in advance!

Maybe check WGI.ORG to see if there are any circuits in your area.

How much does it cost to enter these competitive circuits?

Each circuit is different so once you have an answer to the above question, the next step would be to check with them.

What are the rules on music/drill (length, style, etc.)?

see above

you'll most likely have to obtain permission. that is the responsible thing to do. for WGI, however, some music banned.

For people who have ran similar groups, how much did it cost you?

we'd need more information before we know what a similar group is. # of members, bus cost, etc.

Good luck, and I hope that helped a little!

Mike
