I doubt a kid is going to decide to march in a line because of a tech. Caption head sure, designer, sure, but a tech? Not most of the time, IMO.

oh this happens. Travis Peterman is the kid, saw it on Facebook. Worked with C2 and CWP, I know he marched Blue Stars and RhythmX. great kid, knows his stuff. go into the DCA Forums and find the drum tape from C2 from finals.

Amazing that no one on DCP has yet to note or comment on the change of administration titles for the Cavaliers.

Adolph DeGrauwe did masterfully during a most difficult transition stage. Mark now gets the title for the work he has been doing for awhile as tour director. And Chris has been the public face for a few seasons now. Will the public see any shift in Cavalier progression?

I think this is a good move for the Cavaliers.

sounds like they just clarified the business side more than anything.

I don't fault y'all for not realizing this, but outside of Visual and Color Guard, Bluecoats have been an incredibly stable team. At the top of the Admin staff, Director Dave Glasgow has been a part of the corps since marching in the mid-90's. Previous Director and still Corps Manager, Bill Hamilton, has been there since marching the inaugural corps in 1972. Everyone catches Doug Thrower's tenure (Brass Staff beginning in 92, Arranger since 1997). But Dave MacKinnon, Brass Supervisor has also been with the corps since 1994. While the names beneath them have evolved and changed, they are a long lineage of like-minded, and frequently home-grown, educators.

In percussion, Rarick has been with Bluecoats since 2002, including Front Ensemble writing. When Mike Macintosh left, Tom started writing battery as well. Current Front Ensemble Coordinator, Brad Palmer, has been there almost as long as Tom. He was working on the Macintosh team as well. When Mac left, Mike Jackson took over, but has you can see, there was still continuity. Mike knew he wanted to write again, and that was not going to happen soon in Canton. So a couple of years before he had the opportunity to write for Blue Knights, he had already brought in Roger Carter, with the intention of grooming a new caption head. It was far from a wholesale change. Again, with many technicians staying in the fold. And much like the brass, they have a lot of home-grown talent now still with the corps teaching.

And so it continues.

Can't help but note how many of the Bluecoats' staffers (from design team onto techs), 19 of them including 5 of the design staff. previously had Cadet connections, most as alums.

Now it isn't quite the Star of Indiana heist of the late '80s by any means, yet it is notable that the longevity of staff does influence the development of program and placement seemingly. Building on the great Bluecoat tradition already in place with key people going on their second decade, augmenting them with a group already working out of a similar horizon certainly magnifies the chances for success. It's what made winning that silver over the third place winner that much sweeter. Here's hoping Bloo is as energetic, entertaining, and eventually rewarded in '15 as last summer.

[Ambrose, Bentley, Benton, Brown, Crowley, Fanning, Ferguson, Gall, Gasparrini, Gipson, Lagola*, Moore*, Paradis, Rarick*, Scott, Stratton, Vanderkolff*, Westman*] That is more than 1/3 of the total faculty This is even more alums and legacies from Cadets than Crown has with Aungst*, Hannum*, Klesch*, May*, Potter*, Rosie Queen, and CEO Jim Coates and money hound Brad Martin amongst others. Boston also was a refuge for past Cadets a few seasons back.

*design staff.
