KeithHall
Now this was a LONG time ago but I did hear it. If anyone can remember whether this was said or not please chime in.... After 1971 Mighty St. Joe's folded. This was huge news in NY since they were the perennial powerhouse in the state. It was in 1972 that I heard some people talking that the start of DCI was the reason that the corps folded. Not sure if it had to do with not be included in the eastern group of corps or not. I was 12 years old but very in tune with the activity even then. Maybe someone with more knowledge can lead this topic on the correct course. I was also wondering, because I can't remember...did Magnificent Yankees fold then too? After 1971 it was Purple Lancers and Squires (later Greece Cadets) who were the NY powerhouses. Northern Thunder
did Magnificent Yankees fold then too? The Magnificent Yankees were active in both '72 and '73. In '75 they merged with the Syracuse Marauders and marched as the Yankee Marauders through the '76 season.
KeithHall
That's right about the Yankee Marauders, I forgot. Old age I guess.
Northern Thunder
That's right about the Yankee Marauders In '75 they came off the line with Fanfare & Allegro, and also did Malaga and Mangione's Hill Where The Lord Hides. They made finals at American Legion Nationals in Minneapolis that year. Edited September 9, 2014 by Northern Thunder
