The Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps, from Burlington, NJ are proud to announce their plans and goals for the upcoming competitive marching season.

Since its formation in 1990, the Raiders Drum and Bugle Corps has provided a place for individuals seeking experience competing at the highest level of the marching arts, while building and maintaining relationships that last a lifetime. The Raiders have competed in Drum Corps International contests throughout the United States and Canada. The organization’s grassroots efforts has made it a perennial DCI World Championship Finalist. The Raiders organization has successfully competed in 17 DCI Finals events. Some highlights include capturing silver and bronze medals in 2001 and 2006 and a DCI Division III World Championship in 2005.

“Personal success and consistency is what we strive for every season”, explains Tom Maiello, the organization’s Executive Director. “We know our students have many options placed in front of them, but they chose to come to the Raiders based on the organization’s success, not just on the field, but off the field as well.” Maiello goes on to say, “it is amazing to see how our students succeed once they finish with our organization,” and that he is “proud to see that many of our students have gone on to become music educators, lawyers, pilots, nurses, doctors and other types of professionals and I’m always happy to hear these individuals say that the Raiders were part of the reason they are where they are today.”

To go along with the drum corps’ success, the Raiders are exploring new ways to expand and grow, while also keeping to the corps’ original values in place. “It’s time for new ventures and projects and now we are moving forward,” says DeLano Bonner, the Raiders’ Director of Operations. “We are announcing the formation of A+ Education and Performing Arts, and the Raiders will be the first program under our new educational development organization.” Bonner goes on to say, “our vision and plans are to expand our involvement in the marching Arts community.” Speaking of the Raiders’ success as a world-renowned drum and bugle corps, Bonner notes that A+ “will be expanding our local efforts as well as increase the corps visibility within our own communities. It’s important to solidify our efforts locally, which will allow us to engage with our local communities and music programs and it gives more students an opportunity to grow both educationally and emotionally.” Bonner looks forward to the future. “Everyone involved is excited for this new endeavor; it will also allow us to expand, grow and provide more students with a quality musical and personal experience.”

In the coming weeks, A+ Education and Performing Arts will be announcing additional initiatives and programs. Until then, please visit our new website at www.aplusarts.org for more information and like the A+ organization’s facebook page: www.facebook.com/aplusarts.
