With a multi pictures per second camera, you can get that shot. (In 65, our M&M instructor, Hank O'Donnell worked with me for months to learn the required routine to enter the VFW DM contest. We arrived late in Chicago, so our borrowed mace stayed in the bus.)

I wasn't sure if we were talking about a mace for marching or changing the rules to allow performers to use mace to keep judges from interfering with corps while performing. A little mace in some of the near collisions would make quite a show!

No rule against it that I'm aware of....both Dave Gibbs and Jeff Fiedler used maces as some point in their BD/Cavies DM careers.

They did use "a mace" but they did not use "mace."

I see Jeff had the mace at the beginning of the Cavies '80 show but what year did Dave Gibbs use one with BD?

Edit: Found it - it was in BD's '80 show.
