RelativelyDispleasedHater
I was browsing a topic on this forum a little while ago and came across this picture below of the Cadets from 1979. I was curious what exactly the context was. I looked up their repertoire from that year and seeing the Jesus Christ Superstar selections I assumed there was a penalty given for a vocal shout during that section, but wanted to be certain before I relayed such information along to other people. JimF-LowBari
Corps played up to the last note of the show, put the horns down and sang "Aaaa..mennnnnn". Horns back up and loud tailed last note..... Edit: Ooops song was "I Don't Know How To Love Him" from JCS.... Northern Thunder
It's funny that there was no such full-point penalty for Garfield in '77, when they did sing the Amen in their closer.
xandandl
Rules' interpretation and challenge of who were the finalist corps had gotten a bit tighter...
Northern Thunder
I imagine Garfield caught DCI off-guard in '77, and they had to implement a new rule about vocalizing. Were they even penalized for it in '77? When looking at their penalties for DCI prelims and finals, as well as DCI Midwest and DCI East, it appears that if they were assessed any penalty for singing it was a small amount. I don't ever remember any talk about legality (or illegality) of singing in '77.
