Spring Training Housing

Recommended Posts

Troopers have begun a new tradition in the recent years of using the Memorial Day Parade in Indianapolis with the Indy 500 as their public appearance for the new season. Star of Indiana used to do the same

As the parade is nationally broadcast, this allows the Troopers a national audience and is helpful to their fans who don't roam on the Range of Wyoming.

But how would Carolina Crown and Spirit of Atlanta get there without travelling across these States?

And what happens to Swamp Tour, a most venerable DCI tradition? and no Texas drum corps shows...or auditions??? Shudders!

Do Blue Stars still hold their Spring Training in Indianapolis? Do you think they'll move now that the Indiana bill is being passed?

No, they have been holding Spring Training at Waldorf College in Forrest City, IA, and La Crosse, WI for the past three years (and will return again this year).

for Spring Training/Move Ins BD is indeed "on their own" for housing. There are a lot of local families who take in the corps members, many are parents or alumni of the corps, a few of the members will rent an apartment for a month or two for move ins. SCV goes up to Weed,CA right by Mt. Shasta for move ins (very beautiful view), then they move down to Tollhouse the week before the first show. BDB and SCVC are housed by local members within the corps.

Seems that Cadets are moving into Canton's backyard for Spring Training as fields in Johnstown get a re-do.

Cadets slated to use Ohio Northern in Ada. Ada is 69 miles from Toledo, Ohio, to the north, 80 miles from Columbus, Ohio, to the south and 15 miles to Lima, Ohio to the west. http://www.onu.edu/pawprints/onu_virtual_tour.

Corps is also looking to do Memorial Day with loads of parades back in the NJ area; still in the works, watch for announcements.
