Simple question, In the DCI incarnation, the corps was all-male throughout, correct? Please correct me if that's wrong, please. After a recent conversation, I'm now quite curious if an individual contradicted themselves.

Thank you!

First auditions to include girls were held at Kiltie Hall Saturday, March 1st, 1978 at 1pm., and March 7th at 7pm. All girls that became members in 1978 had prior drum corps experience.

The Kiltie Kadets opened their membership to girls and began accepting them into the membership in March 1978 as well.

Next question is....Why?

Was it due to lack of membership or was there the possibility of a law suit?

I think by that point kids were going to Madison, Phantom, Cavies, or even out West.

Pretty simple, the decision was made in February of that year in an effort to help the corps remain highly competitive and make a better corps.

The decision recognized the talent and ability of young women and the corps desired the advantage of all available talent, male and female.
