Ranked by latest score, with no weighting. Keep in mind all the usual caveats about the dangers of comparing scores from different shows.

(Also, I’ll be catching up after having been away for a few weeks, so bear with me for the next several minutes as I run a series of updates.)

As of June 19:

1. 55.950 Blue Devils B (6/19 Clovis, CA) [first show]

2. 55.400 Vanguard Cadets (6/19 Clovis, CA) [first show]

3. 48.150 Golden Empire (6/19 Clovis, CA) [first show]

4. 37.100 Blue Devils C (6/19 Clovis, CA) [first show]

First scheduled competition date for those corps with no DCI score as of 6/19:

Blue Saints (7/7)

Coastal Surge (7/24)

Colt Cadets (6/28)

Columbians (7/2)

Eruption (7/2)

Genesis (6/27)

Gold (6/26)

Guardians (7/16)

Heat Wave (7/23)

Impulse (6/26)

Incognito (6/26)

Jubal (7/18) [DCE score: 5/23 63.900]

Legends (6/27)

Louisiana Stars (7/8)

Music City (7/3)

Racine Scouts (6/24)

Raiders (7/5)

River City Rhythm (6/28)

7th Regiment (7/2)

Southwind (7/21)

Spartans (7/2)

Les Stentors (7/18)

Thunder (7/2)

Watchmen (6/26)

Next show: Stanford on June 20.

The initial ranking. As had been noted in the Clovis discussion thread a few weeks ago, the judges seem to have felt (or were told) that they scored BDB and SCVC too low in early shows last year, and made up for it this year by awarding those corps two to three more points each--while simultaneously holding down all World Class corps scores. This put those two O.C. corps neck and neck with Mandarins on June 19, but in their most recent matchup, Mandarins are more than two points ahead. Meanwhile Golden Empire and Blue Devils C may have been scored too high at Clovis, since both saw their subsequent scores improve very little two weeks later.

At last, enough corps have debuted to list a top twelve. Legends moves up significantly based on their Bowling Green score. Gold pulls ahead of Golden Empire. And in Rochester, we see the first-ever competitive performance by a brand new corps, River City Rhythm, starting off right behind Colt Cadets.

June closes out with Golden Empire doing well by making the trip to Mesa, temporarily putting them at fourth overall in a field of thirteen. Racine had seen a huge jump in score at Madison but an even bigger drop at Rochester. They make a more modest but significant improvement in Mankato.
