BDB and SCVC reappear just in time to stay ahead of the pack: 7th Regiment jumps more than three points to score just a half-point behind where Vanguard Cadets had been. Incognito posts an even larger gain, apparently having used their week off very wisely: they're now just two points back of their best score from 2014. And Raiders make their debut.

It's hard to believe, but two Open Class corps have now finished their 2015 season (with eight other corps yet to debut). If O.C. Finals were held today, both of them, Eruption and Columbians, would have qualified. Columbians ends very impressively, tied for third with 7th Regiment.

I'm incredibly impressed this year with Open Class, 7th Regiment, Legends, BDB, and SCVC have all blown me away. Those 4 stick out to me, great shows. Genesis as well. Gonna be a great season of drum corps. Very excited to see where the Louisiana Stars open up.

A fifth corps in the mix, Racine, debuts with a shockingly low score.

Unfortunately, their shockingly low score was even more shockingly high, given that they barely made the 30-member threshold needed to participate, have only four horns, and have a show design that's crafted for a significantly larger group, and that's not even close to being achieved. I don't know what happened after the past two seasons, when it looked like they were on the rise; but this year's Racine corps has tumbled.
