eightyonepointthree Posted August 2, 2015 Share Posted August 2, 2015 A bit of Trivia for championship week: Blue Devils have never won DCI on a year ending with a 5 (1975, 1985, 1995, 2005). The last two times The Cadets won DCI, they were in an alternate uniform (The Zone, Angels and Demons). If our top 12 remains the same 12 corps this week, it will only be the third time in DCI history in which the 12 finalists were the same in back to back years (1987-1988 and 2005-2006). If Debbie Torchia judges, Blue Devils will win whatever caption she judges. The last time she judged BD and DIDN'T have them in 1st was July 10, 2011. If the Cavaliers stay in their current position, it will be their lowest placement at DCI finals since 1983. The last corps to beat Blue Devils in Color Guard at finals was 2007 Cavaliers. If the Colts stay in the same position, they will have an unprecedented SEVEN 13th place finishes. If the Bluecoats want to win, they will have to do something they have only done ONCE in corps history....beat the Blue Devils. It's strange to me that corps like Madison, Phantom, and Cavaliers have become non top 5 corps routinely. Crown has for the most part replaced the Cavaliers as a member of the "Big 3." People are quick to jump on judging conspiracies, but it's a little hard to tell judging bias from consistent excellence with a corps like BD. He didn't say it was some conspiracy. Just a fact. The sky is Blue. Toricha hasn't placed BD under 1st since 2011. Considering she's visual, she's probably right.
