Hrothgar15
I'll pose a simple question: are we missing out on a ton of high quality potential DCI music because show design prevents corps from marching in between 80 and 160 beats per minute? To me this is the biggest reason why we don't see the same quality of musical selections today as were done in the '80s and early '90s: the tempos simply don't allow for most of them. I think this can be mostly attributed to the musical genres the corps are pulling music from. Lets see..there is, Classical, symphonic, wind ensemble and symphonic influenced (For the majority of the corps...not all). Last year I enjoyed the pacing and variety of the Madison Scouts tempos and this year Jersey Surf was a nice pace. Need more moderation....nothing wrong with faster tempos...but 20 out of 22 corps shouldn't be pinning the needle IMO.... :) sorry for any typos.... flammaster
Are you aware of all the cross modulatons and other tempo changes in BD's shows?
Mello Dude
I also notice a lot of standing still or ugh "body" during anything kind of difficult.

ibexpercussion
all about the design team Beat me to it. The slower tempo pieces can be utilized if the design team outs them together in such a way that it is "pleasing" both musically and visually.
