JimF-LowBari
Not sure if this should go in DCA or Alumni but this get more traffic.... No more "doing" Drum Crops with a corps for me and not planning any huge vacation plans for a while. But my wife Kris reminded me that I have a bunch of old metal in the basement that I'm not doing ANYTHING with lol. So what I&E shows might be coming up for 2016? With enough preparation and logistics planning maybe a trip to Bridgeport or where ever would be nice. Sure should be easier than driving 350 miles to NC like this year (HS graduation) or 2 days in a stadium at Rochester....

JimF-LowBari
That was quick Andy, thank you. Was just checking mileage/hours for trip to B-port and looked again and saw your post. Was comparing the usual way to NE (I-78 to NYC) vs my stay the Hell out of big city congestion and be near a bathroom route and about an hours difference. Not as bad as I thought. LOL the direct route to Kris brothers family in NC would be the DC beltway but.... ain't the way I go. Easier in the nerves and lots of Sheetz, etc with bathrooms until we get to I-95 at Fredricksburg, VA. A classic NJ steakhouse... worth a visit for lunch or dinner. If you don't like a lot of salty flavor on your steaks, ask for no sauce. The sauce is chock-full of salt.
Ray Priester
On the money, Fran!!! I was once told that Steve's is the best kept secret in Bergen County. It's on 17 SOUTH, not far from the Post. And you can always ask for the sauce on the side, as I do. I've eaten there many times over the last 20years or so and it has never disappointed me or family/friends. Only problem, they DO NOT take reservations. As an alternative, there is also the Meadowlands Diner just a short distance south of there, also on Rt 17. Haven't had a bad meal there either. Both restaurants also have a bar, if you enjoy a cocktail before dining! Either one would be a good choice! Ray

Don't know how far you are from the Jersey Turnpike, but once you get to it, Exit 6, where it ties into the Pennsy Pike, should only take about an hour and a half or so to Exit 16W. From 16W, it's only about 10 minutes to the Post. Tony and Donna White make the trip each year from down south, so you could always consult with him too, or any of the folks from South Jersey Vagabonds. Ask Skee since he drives in for practice and could give you a better estimate.

Used to stop there from time to time when I was working in NJ radio, back in the Stone Age. LOL. And you're right about Steve's... never a bad experience there for me. BigW
Jim, are you going to play? This may be tempting for me, need to get the right index finger brace on my Ultratone installed. A duet might be cool!
