What to bring to camp/auditions?

My daughter secured an invite to an open class camp this weekend on short notice. This is her first camp, so it's a big deal! The corps has provided details about what to bring for the music auditions, etc.

My question is - are there any incidentals that she should bring to make life easier? I know about DCI's love affair with Aerobed - do most people bring sleeping bags too? What else should she pack away that will make it a smoother experience?

Thanks!

Mike

The less she brings, the less she has to lug, even if you drive her. Good training for tour as well.

Most forgotten item is shower-shoes/flipflops. Those who bring one of those multi/plug-in pwerstrips/electric chargers become most popular at camp.

Given your Texas address let me suggest sunscreen, water jug, baseball cap, and sunglasses since some corps do outdoor rehearsals. Based on Regiment's experience this weekend, bring a personal flashlight. In some places, some gym lights stay on ALL NIGHT; bring eye shades.

Katy Boggs prepared this for her corps' recent auditions.

"Don't leave home without these rehearsal weekend essentials. Anyone have anything to add?

No one needs an 18" high aero bed. Not all gyms have A/C, so PJ's, sheets, and a LS t-shirt should keep them comfortable at night. With no A/C and over 100 mm sleeping in one, it may get warm. The more you bring, the more you have to keep secured. Yes, over the years, mm have had stuff grow legs. There are lights that wrap around your neck for reading and moving around. Small bulbs, but good coverage. Add ear plugs with your eye shades.

May she be successful in her audition.

2 days worth of athletic clothes to move around in. clothes to sleep in. shower stuff (soap, shampoo, towel, toothpaste, toothbrush, flip flops). sleeping bag. pillow. whatever packet you needed to download for auditions. any music you are using in your audition. your major instrument. a notepad and pencil. a wire music stand. An attitude to get it done and do it awesomely. travel info or tickets already printed.

and while this may not be 10 year old sleep-away camp, you still want to put labels on some things: iPhone power chargers, for instance, all of which are identical.

Good idea. I cant tell you how many auditions that kids also leave stuff behind. Ive spent many years sorting through stuff from electronics to sweat shirts, pants, even shoes..lol

I was surprised by all the stuff left after finals in the parking lot.
